What a session is

A session is the continuous arc from when you start working to when you explicitly end it. It includes all your work and break segments — every switch back and forth. Your history records sessions, not individual segments.

There’s only one active session at a time. You can’t start a new session while one is running.

Starting a session

Tap Start working on the main screen. You can optionally set an intent before starting — a one-sentence description of what you want to accomplish. Once you start, break time begins accumulating immediately.

During a session

While a session is running, you can switch between work and break as many times as you like. Your break bank tracks the balance across all these switches.

If you leave the app or lock your phone, the session continues in the background. There’s no auto-stop or timeout.

Ending a session

There are three ways to end a session, each with different consequences for your break bank:

ActionUse whenBreak bank
End SessionYou finished what you set out to doPreserved
InterruptionSomething unexpected pulled you awayPreserved
Big BreakYou’re done for the day — genuine resetZeroed

End Session is the normal completion path. If you set an intent, you’ll be prompted to reconcile — record whether you finished what you planned.

Interruption archives the session without asking for reconciliation. The session still appears in your history, and you can still reconcile it from there within 24 hours.

Big Break is irreversible and requires confirmation. Use it when you genuinely want to start fresh — like at the end of a workday. It zeros your break bank, so don’t use it just to end a session.

FAQ

Does the app stop my session if I close it?

No. The session continues in the background. Open the app to see your current state.

What if I forget to end a session?

Your history will show the session as running until you end it. There’s no penalty — just end it when you notice.

Does Big Break affect my ratio or settings?

No. It only zeros your break bank. Your ratio and all other settings stay the same.
