Divvy Time · Help

Overview

Divvy Time sends four types of notifications. The app requests permission on first launch but works fully without it — notifications are optional at every level.

Break timer

Fires when a break ends and your bank balance is still positive. It includes a Resume Work action button so you can transition back without opening the app.

This notification only appears when you have earned break remaining — it won’t fire if your bank is empty.

Work milestone reminders

These are configurable interval-based notifications that fire when your cumulative session work time hits specific durations — for example, at 30 minutes, 60 minutes, and so on.

Milestones count total work time across the entire session, not just since your last break. If you’ve worked 20 minutes, took a break, then worked 15 more, the 30-minute milestone fires at the 10-minute mark of your second work segment.

You configure milestone intervals in Settings.

Longer than usual

A passive notification that surfaces when your current session exceeds your typical session length. It’s a gentle check-in, not a warning — useful for noticing when you’ve been working unusually long.

Phone away check-in

Fires at the end of a phone-free session window. If you’ve set aside time to keep your phone away, this notification marks the end of that window.

FAQ

Why did a milestone notification appear when I wasn’t expecting it?

Milestones are based on cumulative session work time, not just your current work segment. If you’ve had multiple work/break cycles in the session, the milestone includes all of them.

Can I turn off individual notification types?

Yes. Each notification type can be configured independently in Settings → Notifications.

The app works without notifications?

Yes. You can deny the permission request and use Divvy Time entirely from the app screen. Notifications add convenience but aren’t required.
