Setting an intent
Before starting a session, you can write a one-sentence intent — a description of what you want to accomplish. Intent is optional. A session without one works exactly the same way.
Write outcome-focused statements rather than task lists. “The report draft is ready to share” is more useful than “work on report.” An outcome gives you something concrete to check at the end.
Recent intents are suggested automatically when you start a new session, so recurring work is quick to set.
Editing intent mid-session
You can add or edit your intent within the first two minutes of a session. After that, changes are still possible but are timestamped separately in your history — so you can see what shifted and when.
Reconciliation
When you end a session that had an intent, the app asks how it went. You record one of three outcomes:
- Done — you finished what you planned
- Partly — you made progress but didn’t complete it
- Not done — the session didn’t go as planned
You can also add a short note. This is saved in your history alongside the session details.
Reconciliation is optional — you can skip it. The session records regardless.
Reconciling later
You can reconcile a session from the History screen within 24 hours of ending it. This is useful if you end a session quickly and want to reflect on it later.
Sessions ended via Interruption don’t prompt for reconciliation immediately, but can still be reconciled from History.
FAQ
Does skipping reconciliation affect my Insights?
Insights track session duration, break balance, and timing regardless of whether you reconcile. Reconciliation data shows up in history detail but doesn’t alter the metrics.
Can I see past intents and outcomes?
Yes. Your History screen shows each session’s intent, outcome, duration, and ratio.
What if I started without an intent and want to add one?
You can add an intent within the first two minutes of a session. After that, it’s no longer available for that session.
